What is a movable tire rack, and why use them?

Portable or movable tire racks are built to save time. These tire racks are sturdy built to handle the roughness of your fork truck and employees and will last for 20 years or more. Their time saving aspect comes in the handling ease of both the content and container themselves. They are perfect to stow tires when receiving a shipment and directly put them away in their location. They are made to avoid having to put tires on the floor and multiple handling, resulting in lost time and extra costs due to inefficiency. They require less workers and results in reduces costs in wages. Having less handling also reduces the potential risk of accidents and injuries.

The portable tire racks give you flexibility in space management for your tire warehouse. There are 3 different ways to store your tires; you can lace them, stack them or simply on the tread. The most common way (maybe not the best) is to stack the tires on the side walls. It might look easier, but when you move the portable racks, the stack of tires might not be stable. Some Health and Safety organization might ask you to wrap the tires so they don’t fall on somebody walking in the aisle. Then these racks become more costly.

You can also lace your tires; normally, this increases the number of tires per rack by 25-30%. By lacing the tires, you take up the empty space in the center of the tire and use it. This is where you get your increase. It might causes you one little problem, where it might take a little longer for your inventory picking. Normally, people lace their tires when they have large quantities of the same SKU.

And finally, the best way is to store your tires on the tread. You will not have any quality or deformation problems if they stay in the tire rack for a longer period, and it will also be easier for order picking. You can have 32 different SKU in the same rack, since they stand alone. The tires are also very stable when you move the portable rack.
